Improve Security Lighting:


-Schematic design and analysis of additional layout for historic site lighting option, including detailed point-to-point site lighting calculations

-Construction administration services required for all historic site lighting option. Bathroom Renovation

-Convert existing women’s handicap restroom to women’s/family restroom

-Provide each temporary workstation with quadruplex receptacle from emergency source, and combination telephone/data connection

-Provide temporary security system devices as directed by the COTR

-Maintain fire alarm system protection during all occupies hours per NFPA 72.

-Maintain space illumination, HVAC, and egress lighting in service

AWE Corrections:
 
-Replace drench hose currently being used as an eyewash station with a new deck mounted eyewash station and connect to existing mixing valve

-Replace float type overflow valves in the feed-water de-aerator overflow system with an independent control system with a conductivity probe water level sensor and butterfly type overflow valves

-Modify the existing boiler plant building combustible and carbon monoxide monitoring system to meet VA Master Specification section 230911.

-Energy modeling for a facility to be divided into four departments of service (General Office, Customer Service, Engineering and Operations).

-Spaces are designed to promote good circulation so that each department can be easily interfaced with other departments.

-The facility is being considered for LEED Silver Certification. Some sustainable features include: variable refrigerant flow (VRF) HVAC system, on-site renewables (solar and wind), LED lighting, daylighting control, etc.





City Hall Building

-S & S Engineering provided Master planning of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for 31-story building.

-We investigated existing equipment and systems for problems through condition survey and developed phased replacement plan with more energy efficient equipment and systems

-Prepared report of findings and made recommendations
 
-Performed utility bill analysis; and Presented findings to a City Architect, Facilities Management, and Board members





Doniphan County
Troy, KS


-S & S Engineering was hired to provide an IGA report containing technical analysis of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) applicable to 20,400 SF, Doniphan County Courthouse

-4,000 SF Health Department; 11,000 SF Law Enforcement Building, and 1,299 SF Extension Center Building
 
-The analysis included the cost to implement the ECMs, the energy cost and water & sewer savings associated with the ECMs, simple payback, and percentage of current energy consumption saved by implementation of the ECMs

-The ECMs pursued for this project were lighting retrofit, water conservation, storm windows, roof replacement, HVAC upgrades, controls upgrades, etc.

-Development of concept design and alternative feasible systems

-Development of schematic design drawings for contractor’s pricing

-Development of a system model for calibrated simulation and savings calculations for ECMs

-Preparation of a report of simple payback for the ECMs with cost input from contractors




Atchison County Courthouse
Atchison, Kansas
   

-Provided energy management consulting services to develop functional standards and a baseline for existing systems at the Atchison County Courthouse in Atchison, Kansas. 

Our services included:

-Development of concept design and alternative feasible systems

-Development of detailed design for contractor’s pricing

-Development of a system model for simulation and savings calculations for ECMs

-Preparation of a report of simple payback for the ECMs with cost input from contractors
   
-Current energy consumption: 68,391 Btu/sf/yr.

-Projected consumption after ECMs implemented: 49,956 Btu/sf/yr.





Kansas City Corps of Engineers
Ft. Leonard Wood, MO

-Energy Analysis for Counter Explosive Hazard Complex that included an Administrative Building and a 15-dog kennel

-Energy Analysis for a 30-dog kennel

-Evaluation and design of HVAC system improvements for 62,000 square foot 3-story building chiller plant

-Project included demolition, installation of two new 140-ton rotary screw, air-cooled chillers, new chilled water pumping system, new piping system



Kansas Gas Service
Topeka, KS


-Investigation and recommendations followed by design for the HVAC system for a computer room/data room

-Evaluation of the existing cooling system and associated electrical emergency power system for two-computer/server rooms (Telephone Room 151 & LAN & UPS room) and make recommendation in a report to improve the reliability/redundancy with the current systems for a data center like setup

-Proposed new computer room air-conditioning (CRAC) system to improve the reliability/redundancy of the current systems




Two Brush Creek Office Building
Kansas City, MO

-Evaluation and design of HVAC system improvements for 66,000 square foot 5-story building

-Three different chiller types were compared (centrifugal, screw, and Turbo core) for efficiency in an office building

-Energy analysis was performed taking into consideration load profile, run hours, etc.  A life-cycle cost analysis was performed

-Design included demolition, new chiller with magnetic bearing compressor, cooling tower with VFD, chilled water and condenser water pumping systems, mechanical room ventilation, chiller room refrigerant monitoring system, etc.
